HOKEMA - Twin Kalimba A minor - 432 Hz
The Twin Kalimba is 30 cm long and has two equally tuned sets of reeds on opposite sides. This allows it to be played alone or with a partner.
Playing with two people
The real reason for developing the Twin Kalimba was the desire to have an instrument that would allow for joint playing. Whether it is a couple, friends or therapist and patient, a shared sound experience is possible. The equally tuned sets of reeds always produce harmonious sequences of notes and sounds. The vibrations of the notes are transferred to the wood and are not only acoustically but also physically noticeable to the playing partner.
Playing alone
Hold the Twin Kalimba horizontally in both hands so that each thumb plays one set of tongues. The equally tuned sets of tongues create a sound rich in overtones and reverberation, as each tongue played resonates the same tuned note on the opposite side. The advanced Kalimba player has a variety of options for creating scales by retuning individual tones.
